Description
Another very cool limited production Spiderman t-shirt. A wicked street trend shirt with a menagerie of Spiderman images. This is a sublimation t-shirt. That means that the process for getting the Spidey image on to the shirt is different than a normal screen print. The basic dye sublimation process uses special heat-sensitive dyes to print graphics and text onto special transfer paper. The paper is then placed on a 'sublimatable' item and both are placed into a heat press. In Sublimation Printing one print technology used for dye sublimation transfer uses inkjet printing. There is some confusion in this description because sublimation printing does not use 'ink ' per se. It is a type of a dye. The fluid stored in the inkjet cartridge is just the carrier of the dye. The carrier stays on the paper; while the dye migrates from paper to the substrate (or cotton t-shirt). The dye has little or no color until heated so what you see on the paper usually looks nothing like the final transferred image. Other forms of dye sublimation transfers are done with thermal printers offset printers and laser printers. When the heating/printing cycle is completed the image on the paper has been transferred to the item and has actually reformed into or underneath the coated surface. Run your finger across the surface of a sublimation printed plate mug or even a t-shirt or any coated product and you will feel nothing. This is much different than what you would expect from a 'heat transfer' or iron-on and a traditionally screen printed t-shirt.
